Wrestling Posts Perfect Day at Scranton Duals

SCRANTON, PA (February 8, 2026) — The King's College wrestling team competed in the Scranton Duals on Sunday afternoon at the John Long Center, opening the day against Scranton before taking on Pitt-Bradford and Hunter College. The Monarchs swept all three matchups, defeating Scranton, Pitt-Bradford, and Hunter to finish the day 3-0 and improving their overall dual record to 8-8 on the season.

King's - 22, Scranton - 17

At 125 pounds, Patrick Horvath opened the day with a 12-9 decision victory over Joseph Cappello to put the Monarchs on the board.

Sid O'Donnell followed at 133 with a dominant 16-3 major decision against Mark Ortiz. Jacob Torres kept the momentum going at 141, earning a 13-3 major decision over Charles Arobone.

At 149, Shane Kibler extended the lead with a 21-3 technical fall over Shkeb Nadir at the 5:24 mark. MJ Turi added another bonus-point win at 157, picking up a 13-1 major decision against Luke Burke.

Scranton responded at 165 as Donnell Young earned a 15-3 major decision over Kennedy Thomas. At 174, Kevin McCarvill added to Scranton's total with an 18–4 major decision over Alex Ballantyne.

Jake Bobersky slowed the momentum shift at 184, securing a 4-2 decision over Charles Kitching. At 197, Quinton Laughlin edged Josh Brown in an 8-6 decision before Scranton closed the dual with a pin at heavyweight.

King's - 36, Pitt-Bradford - 16

Horvath earned another win at 125, defeating Cade Stern by a 7-0 decision to open the second dual of the day.

At 133, Pitt-Bradford got on the board as Mike Worsen picked up a major decision over  O'Donnell. Angel Avalos followed with a forfeit win at 141, giving the Monarchs six points.

Kibler recorded his second bonus-point victory of the day at 149, earning a 13-5 major decision over Nikolas Fegert. Turi added six more points at 157 after Luke Burke was forced to medically forfeit.

At 165, Peyton Mitchell scored a 16-1 technical fall against Thomas. Pitt-Bradford picked up another win at 174 with a pin at 1:34 in the first.

Bobersky picked up another six points for King's at 184 via forfeit. At 197, Gavin Thompson pinned Josh Brown at 1:06. Sam Moffett closed out the dual with a forfeit win at heavyweight, securing the 36-16 final.

King's - 26, Hunter - 17

Horvath started the final dual strong at 125, earning a 13-3 major decision over Muhamadu Koneth to finish the day undefeated. O'Donnell followed with a forfeit win at 133.

At 141, Avalos picked up a 15-9 decision over Kenan Djokic. Shane Kibler continued his perfect day at 149, edging Jayden Medina by a 14-11 decision.

Hunter picked up points at 157 as Christopher Gliaos defeated Sean Hazlett by an 11-5 decision. Jordan Bentley responded for King's at 165 with a 13-9 decision over Jack Kent Young.

Alex Ballantyne delivered one of the standout performances of the dual at 174, earning a 22-11 major decision against Oscar O'Donnell Powell. Jake Bobersky added another forfeit victory at 184 to remain undefeated on the day.

At 197, Alimkhan Guseinov earned a medical forfeit for Hunter. The final bout of the day went to Hunter at heavyweight, but King's secured the sweep with a 26-17 win.

King's Wrestling returns to the mat on Thursday, February 12 as the Monarchs host Stevens Institute of Technology in the last home dual of the season starting at 7:00 p.m.
