SALISBURY, MD(March 14, 2026)—The King's College Softball team suffered a pair of setbacks in neutral site action at the Margie Knight Softball Classic on Saturday, dropping a close 4-1 contest against Juniata before falling to Stockton by a score of 10-2 in the second game. The losses drop the Monarchs to 5-7 overall at the conclusion of the spring trip.
Game 1 – L, 4-1 vs. Juniata
Juniata broke a scoreless tie in the second inning, taking advantage of a walk and a passed ball to move a runner into scoring position before bringing home the game's first run on an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead midway through two.
The Eagles added to their advantage in the third inning. After a one-out single, a double to left field brought in the second run, and another base hit to center field followed to extend the Juniata lead to 3-0.
King's threatened in several early innings, but broke through in the fifth with their lone run of the contest.
Megan Matsko reached on an error to start the inning before
Colleen Shuler moved her into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.
Kara Krouse followed with a single to left field, and
Madison Badali drove in a run for the Monarchs with an fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Juniata added an insurance run in the seventh inning after a hit batter came around to score on a double to left field, pushing the lead to 4-1. The Monarchs were unable to mount the comeback despite having the tying run on deck as Juniata secured the 4-1 win.
Shuler highlighted the Monarch offense with a triple, while Matsko, Krouse, Goldspiel, and Higdon each added a hit as the Monarchs finished with five on the day. Badali tacked on the only RBI of the game for King's.

Madisyn vonFrisch went the distance for King's, allowing four runs with three earned on seven hits while striking out two over seven innings.
Game 2 – L, 10-2 vs. Stockton (6 Inn.)
Stockton opened the scoring in the first inning, taking advantage of an early error before an RBI single brought home the game's first run to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead. Stockton added another run in the second inning on a pair of hits to extend the advantage to 2-0.
Following a scoreless third, King's answered in the fourth inning to even the score.
Meghan Marianelli led off the frame with a single before
Ellie Higdon drew a walk. After
Molly Veach was hit by a pitch to load the bases,
Liz Wilson brought home the Monarchs' first run with an RBI walk.
Makenzie Johnson followed with a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Higdon to score and tie the game at 2-2 midway through four.
Stockton responded in the bottom half of the inning, regaining the lead with two runs on three hits to make it 4-2. The Ospreys added another run in the fifth inning before breaking the game open in the sixth with five runs to secure the 10-2 victory.
Marianelli and Goldspiel each recorded a hit for the Monarchs, while Johnson and Wilson drove in the team's two runs.
Kara Krouse and
Makenzie Johnson also added hits as King's finished with four in the contest.
The Monarchs return to the field on Thursday, March 18 as they head to Allentown, PA for a double-header with Muhlenberg College starting at 3:00 p.m.
