Varner Named USTFCCCA All-American in Weight Throw and Shot Put

NEW ORLEANS, LA (March 17, 2026) -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field All-American honorees on Monday, with Brandy Varner of the King's College women's indoor track and field team earning recognition.
 
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually, and ninth and tenth as part of a relay earned Second-Team All-America.

Varner delivered a standout performance at the national championships, earning two All-American honors in the weight throw and shot put. She secured her first career All-American accolade with a seventh-place finish in the weight throw, breaking her own school record from the AARTFC Championships with a toss of 17.64 meters in a field of 20 competitors. Varner followed with a ninth-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 13.30 meters to earn Second Team All-American recognition.
 
With her performance, Varner became the first Monarch in program history to earn multiple All-American honors in the same season and the first King's female athlete to achieve All-American status since Jill Korgeski in 2019.
 
Varner season was highlighted by multiple accolades and accomplishments. Some of her postseason highlights came at the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she captured titles in both the shot put and weight throw to earn MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

Varner additionally finished in second at the AARTFC Championships and claimed all-region in both the weight throw and shot put. Varner now currently holds the school record in the weight throw at 17.64 meters and is ranked sixth for individual school marks in the shot put at 13.68 meters. 
 
The senior standout looks continue her dominance in her return to the field for the outdoor season on as King's hosts the Monarch Invite on March 21 at the Betzler Outdoor Track and Field.
