EDWARDSVILLE, PA (March 21, 2026) -- The King's College women's tennis team opened its spring home slate on Saturday afternoon, falling to Alvernia University 7-0 at Kirby Park. The Monarchs move to 0-4 on the season, while the Golden Wolves even their record at 2-2.
Singles play opened the afternoon, with Alvernia earning points throughout the lineup.
Carlee Dellose competed at No. 1 singles but was defeated by Jillian Laughman, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2 singles,
Betsy Allen gained momentum in the second set before falling 6-1, 6-4 to Adelynn Steffey.
At No. 3 singles,
Kimberly Dinh pushed her opponent in the second set, forcing a tiebreak after dropping the opening set 6-1, but Jamielyn Kelley secured the match with a 7-6 (8-6) victory.
Allison Van Pelt battled at No. 4 singles, staying within reach early before falling to Jennah Degout by scores of 7-5 and 6-0.
Miley Caetano took the court at No. 5 singles and was topped by Grace Dobrzynski, 6-1, 6-1.
Madeline Sirianni rounded out the lineup at No. 6 singles, dropping a 6-1, 6-0 match to Jordyn Ingelido.
Doubles play followed, where Alvernia completed the sweep. At No. 1 doubles, Dinh and Dellose battled closely but came up short in a 7-5 loss to Laughman and Kelley. The Allen and Caetano duo fell 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to Steffey and Degout, while Van Pelt and Sirianni dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 3 doubles to Nicolina Schlesser and Dobrzynski.
The Monarchs take to the road next Saturday, traveling to Lebanon Valley College to take on the Flying Dutchmen in a 4:00 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom matchup.
