Women’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season with Impressive Marks at Monarch Invitational

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 21, 2026) – The King's College women's track and field team opened the spring outdoor track and field season on Saturday with strong performances as the team hosted the Monarch Invitational at the Betzler Outdoor Track.
 
In the field events, Katey Shoemaker kicked off the day by placing first in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.82 meters. Caitlin Kirk claimed third at 45.08 meters, while Brandy Varner earned fifth with a toss 43.74 meters, and Nayeli Moliere placed fifth at 27.78 meters.
 
In the Javelin, Ariela Towsey took second at 26.25 meters, while teammates Sarah Hartzell and Moliere claimed third and fourth with throws of 24.87 meters and 20.06 meters. Dani Rimsky also earned fifth at 16.52 meters.
 
Varner won the shot put with a toss of 12.02 meters, while Moliere continued her strong performance by placing third with a throw of 10.70 meters, and Aerie Sanders finished in fifth at 8.29 meters.
 
Avery Kosloski won the high jump at 1.46 meters, and teammates Rimsky and Abby Thompson tied for second by both jumping for 1.41 meters each. In the long jump, Soyer Delucy was triumphant at 4.84 meters and Rimsky placed third with a personal best leap of 4.50 meters, which is 18 meters longer than her original standard.
 
DeLucy continued her dominance by winning the triple jump at 9.57 meters, while teammate Mckenzie Bannon placed third at 9.22 meters.
 
Varner won her second event of the day by placing first in the discus throw at 46.09 meters. Shoemaker placed second with a toss of 36.63 meters, while teammate Kirk got third at 36.61 meters.
 
In the track events, Mara Ryan ran a personal best time of 5:56.75 in the 1500m to earn fourth. Her performance was nearly 10 seconds quicker than her original time. Samatha Adams finished in sixth place at 1:08.87 in the 400 meters dash.
 
In the 100-meter dash, Ali Butcher topped the event at 13.20, while teammates Erin McLean and Sophia Hahn placed third and fourth respectively with times of 13.55 and 14.47.
 
Ava Butcher won the 800 meter dash by crossing the line at 2:30.64. Evelyn Sahd claimed second with a time of 2:36.53 and Cecilia Chipriano ran a personal best time of 2:39.22 to earn third. Chipriano's time was 10 seconds quicker than her previous personal record.
 
Ali Butcher continued her dominance by winning her second event of the day, this time placing first in the 200 meter dash 27.95. McLean followed up in second by stopping the clock at 28.97 and Hahn took third at 31.20.
 
The Monarchs return to action on Friday March 27, as they compete at the Danny Curran Invitational, hosted by Widener University at the George A. Hansell Track.
