CHESTER, PA (March 27, 2026) – The King's College women's track and field team competed on day one of Danny Curran invitational hosted by Widener University on Friday afternoon at the George A. Hansell Track. The Monarchs displayed both personal bests and individual wins headed into day two.
On the track,
Cecilia Chipriano qualified for the MAC Championships in the 5,000 meter run with a personal best time of 19:42, placing 53rd overall and improving her career best time by over 17 seconds.
Mara Ryan also posted a personal best time in the 5,000 as she placed 18th in her heat and 80th overall at 21:31.74. Her time was two minutes and 21 seconds faster than her original.
In the field,
Brandy Varner topped the discus throw with a toss of 43.25 meters. Varner placed first out of 32 throwers. Teammate
Caitlin Kirk finished in 15th at 32.73 meters, and teammate
Katey Shoemaker earned 21st at 30.15 meters.
Varner claimed first in her second event of the day in the shot put as the senior standout bested the 69-thrower field at 13.57 meters.
Nayeli Moliere finished in 15th with a toss of 10.84 meters, while Aerie Sanders earned 54th at 8.56 meters.
Mckenzie Bannon ended the day by placing 25th in the triple jump with a leap of 9.26 meters.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, March 28 as the team kicks off day two of the Danny Curan Invite at 9:00 a.m.
