King’s Baseball Falls in Sunday Doubleheader with Arcadia

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 29, 2026) -- The King's College baseball team wrapped up its three-game Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom set against Arcadia University with a doubleheader, Sunday afternoon at Lipo Field. Despite a strong pitching performance by Connor Reynolds in Game 1 and getting several runners in scoring position in Game 2, the Monarchs dropped the twin bill by scores of 9-0 and 13-2. The results move King's to 3-14 overall and 0-9 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Knights improve to 14-6 overall and 8-1 in the MAC Freedom.

Game 1 - L, 9-0
The opener was defined early by a scoreless stretch on the mound from Connor Reynolds. Reynolds retired the side in order in the first inning, closing the frame with a strikeout, and followed with another scoreless second inning that included his second strikeout of the afternoon as King's kept Arcadia off the board through the opening frames.

Reynolds continued to hold Arcadia scoreless through the third and fourth innings, keeping the game even as both offenses were held in check heading into the middle of the contest.

Arcadia broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth. The Knights plated the game's first run after a hit batter and a double set up a sacrifice fly to center field, giving Arcadia a 1-0 lead.

The Knights added to the margin in the sixth inning, prompting King's to turn to Dusty Shaver in relief midway through the frame. After coming on out of the bullpen, Shaver closed the inning with a defensive highlight, charging a comebacker, making a barehanded grab, and throwing to first to record the final out.

Arcadia closed the scoring in the seventh, adding four runs highlighted by a three-run home run to put the game out of reach.

Owen Kosar recorded King's lone hit of the contest with a single in the seventh inning. Mikey Timinski reached base with a walk as the Monarchs were limited to two total baserunners.

Reynolds worked 5.2 innings in the opener, recording two strikeouts and holding Arcadia scoreless through four full innings before allowing five runs and turning the game over to Shaver. King's limited the Knights early before Arcadia broke through late.

Game 2 - L, 13-2
The nightcap opened with a defensive play on the first ball put in play, as starting pitcher Aydan Davis fielded a hard-hit ground ball back to the mound and threw to first to record the opening out.
Arcadia opened the scoring later in the first inning with a solo home run and added two runs in the third. In the top of that third inning, Troy Neff made a diving catch in center field to take away a hit and close the frame.

The Knights added a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to extend the lead. King's responded in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases before John Gardiner Jr. scored on a sacrifice fly by Owen Kosar to put the Monarchs on the board.

Arcadia answered in the top of the seventh with a three-run inning. King's responded again in the bottom half, as Gardiner scored his second run of the game on a sacrifice fly from Jack McDonald.

The Knights added three runs in the top of the eighth to extend the margin to eleven. King's threatened in the bottom of the inning, putting runners on the corners before Arcadia recorded the final out to seal the 10-run mercy rule and end the game after eight innings.

Mikey Timinski and Miles Carey recorded hits in the nightcap, while Kosar and McDonald drove in the Monarchs' two runs. King's drew 10 walks and left 11 runners on base.

Davis made the start in game two before King's turned to J.P. Kehoe, Christian Galimi, Garrett Horvath, and Ricky Hynick out of the bullpen as the Monarchs rotated arms through the shortened contest.

King's returns to action on Wednesday, April 1 for a MAC Freedom showdown on the road at Misericordia University. First pitch against the Cougars is set for 3:30 p.m.
