EDWARDSVILLE, PA (March 29, 2026) -- The King's College men's tennis team picked up its first win of the spring on Sunday morning, edging Rutgers‑Camden by a 4-3 margin in a tightly contested match at Kirby Park. The Monarchs improve to 1-5 on the season, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 2-5.

Singles play concluded with the teams deadlocked at three points apiece. Tim John competed at the top of the lineup, dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Max Cabida. King's answered at No. 2 singles, where Amir Samadian bounced back from a close opening set to defeat Julian Pinder, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Another Monarch point followed at No. 3 singles as Gavin Hall controlled play against Ben Try, earning 6-1 and 6-0 victories. Rutgers‑Camden evened the match at No. 4, where Logan Tomkins fell to John Brady by scores of 7-5 and 6-0. The Scarlet Raptors added a point at No. 5 singles with Mike Olsen defeating Zackary Bedwell, 6-2, 6-1.

With the Scarlet Raptors holding a narrow 3-2 edge, William Savner delivered for King's at No. 6 singles, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win over Isan Salamanca to keep the contest level heading into doubles.

Doubles play ultimately determined the outcome. After John and Hall dropped a 6-4 decision at No. 1 doubles to Cabida and Pinder, King's responded by capturing the final two flights. Samadian and Bedwell edged Try and Salamanca, 7-5, at No. 2 doubles, before Savner and Tomkins followed with a 6-4 victory over Brady and Olsen at No. 3 to clinch the match for the Monarchs.
The Monarchs are back in action at Kirby Park on Wednesday, April 8 against Misericordia University. First serve in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom showdown with the Cougars is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
