Men’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Misericordia

EDWARDSVILLE, PA (April 8, 2026) -- The King's College men's tennis team returned to Kirby Park for Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Misericordia University by a score of 6-1. The Monarchs move to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the Cougars improve to 1-6 on the season and 1-2 in the MAC Freedom.
 

Singles play featured several competitive matches across the lineup. Tim John earned the lone point of the afternoon for King's at No. 1 singles, bouncing back after a tough opening set to defeat Dalton Alexander, 0-6, 6-4, 7-5. At No. 2 singles, Amir Samadian pushed Brett Bastian to a second-set tiebreak but ultimately fell, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
 

At No. 3 singles, Gavin Hall extended his match to three sets before dropping a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 decision to Christian Mazza. Logan Tomkins competed at No. 4 singles and suffered a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Michael DiSante. The Cougars added points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, as Zackary Bedwell fell to Derek Burcik, 6-0, 6-0, and William Savner dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Dominic Brower.
 

Doubles play opened the match with Misericordia controlling all three flights. John and Hall fell 6-3 at No. 1 doubles to Alexander and Brower. At No. 2 doubles, Samadian and Tomkins dropped a 6-1 decision to Burcik and Mazza. The Cougars' duo of Eli Harding/Bastian completed doubles play with a 6-3 win at No. 3 over Bedwell and Savner.


The Monarchs return to action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to Lycoming College for a nonconference matchup. First serve against the Warriors is slated for 3:00 p.m.
