OWINGS MILLS, MD (March 29, 2026) — The King's College men's volleyball team fell on the road in MAC action on Saturday evening, dropping a straight-set match to Stevenson University by scores of 25-21, 25-7, and 25-19.
Stevenson used a strong offensive showing to take control early, but King's kept things competitive in the opening set. The Monarchs hit an efficient .417 in the frame, totaling 13 kills while staying within striking distance throughout. Logan Place and Alex Martellacci led the attack early, but the Mustangs pulled away late to secure the 25-21 win.
The hosts seized full momentum in the second set, limiting King's offensively while hitting .471 as a team. Stevenson jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, holding the Monarchs to just two kills in the set to take a commanding 2-0 match advantage with a 25-7 victory.
King's regrouped in the third and delivered a more balanced effort, battling through several lead changes early in the frame. Antonio Tavarez and Place helped pace the offense, while the Monarchs stayed within reach midway through the set. Stevenson, however, closed on a late run to secure the 25-19 win and complete the sweep.
Place led King's with six kills, while Martellacci added four on an efficient .600 hitting percentage. Tavarez chipped in three kills and led the Monarchs defensively with four digs while adding two blocks.
Ben Maskiell dished out 13 assists, while Brady Taylor contributed four assists and three digs. Defensively, Aiden Glasgow and Taylor each recorded three digs, while Greg Bousquet and Logan Aikens each added a block at the net.
King's will look to bounce back in its next outing as the Monarchs continue conference play, taking on Stevens at McGrane Gymnasium on Wednesday April 1, at 7:00 p.m..
