WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 1, 2026) — The King's College men's lacrosse team dropped its MAC Freedom opener on Wednesday evening, falling 18-4 to Stevens Institute of Technology at McCarthy Stadium.
Stevens came out strong in the opening quarter, scoring nine times to take a 9-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of play.
The Monarchs got on the board in the second quarter as Miles Wilson found the back of the net for King's first goal of the game. Despite the breakthrough, Stevens continued to control the pace, extending its lead to 12-1 going into the half.
Stevens added to its advantage in the third quarter, outscoring the Monarchs 2-1 in the frame to take a 14-2 lead into the final period. Ryan Lynch scored the Monarchs' lone goal of the period.
King's opened the fourth quarter with a goal from Wilson, his second of the game, before EJ Schreiner added another tally to make it 15-4. Stevens responded with three late goals to close out the 18-4 final.
Wilson led the Monarchs with two goals, while Lynch and Schreiner each added a goal in the loss. All four of the goals being unassisted.
Defensively, King's faced heavy pressure as Stevens totaled 78 shots in the contest. Ryan Rickards made 16 saves in goal, while Owen Rosenburg added three stops in relief.
King's will look to bounce back in its next MAC Freedom outing when the Monarchs host DeSales on Wednesday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
