Men's Tennis Falls to Penn College in Home Matchup

EDWARDSVILLE, PA (April 10, 2026) -- The King's College men's tennis team continued their busiest stretch of their season on Saturday afternoon but were unable to slow Penn College, falling 6-1 at Kirby Park. The Monarchs move to 1-8 on the season, while the Wildcats improve to 5-6 overall.
 

Tim John opened the day at No. 1 singles and dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Kyle Shuler. Amir Samadian followed at No. 2 singles and battled through long games before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Josh Miller.
 

At No. 3 singles, Gavin Hall opened with a strong effort, pushing Logan Ogden to a first-set tiebreak before dropping the set 7-6 (7-5). Ogden then closed out the match with a 6-1 second set. Logan Tomkins faced Matt Williams at No. 4 singles and fell by scores of 6-0 and 6-1. The Wildcats added another point at No. 5 singles as Avery Hawk defeated Zackary Bedwell, 6-2, 7-5.
 

King's earned its lone point of the afternoon at No. 6 singles. William Savner rebounded after dropping the opening set to Christian Abromovage, taking the second set 6-4 before securing the match with a 10-4 decision in the third-set tiebreak.
 

Doubles play followed, resulting in three additional points for Penn College. The No. 1 doubles pairing of John and Hall were defeated 6-2 by Shuler and Miller. At No. 2 doubles, Samadian and Bedwell dropped a 6-2 decision to Ogden and Williams. The duo of Tomkins and Savner put in a strong effort at No. 3 doubles but ultimately fell 6-3 to Hawk and Abromovage.
 

The Monarchs continue their homestand tomorrow, hosting Arcadia University. First serve against the Knights is slated for 1:00 p.m.
