EDWARDSVILLE, PA (April 12, 2026) -- The King's College men's tennis team closed out its spring home season on Sunday morning, falling 7-0 to Elizabethtown College in a nonconference match at Kirby Park. The Monarchs move to 1-10 on the season, while the Blue Jays improve to 4-8.
Several singles matches featured extended rallies and tight finishes, including a hard‑fought contest in the middle of the lineup.
Tim John competed at No. 1 singles and dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Max Lauver. At No. 2 singles,
Amir Samadian fought through long games but fell 6-4, 6-0 to Austin Kohler.
Gavin Hall lined up at No. 3 singles and was defeated by Jio Garcia, 6-3, 6-0. At No. 4 singles,
Logan Tomkins suffered a 6-1, 6-0 setback against Ryan Kraychik.
The most competitive singles match of the morning came at No. 5.
Zackary Bedwell rebounded after dropping the opening set to Isaac Reichenbach, taking the second set 6-3 before ultimately falling 10-6 in a closely contested third‑set super tiebreak. Elizabethtown secured the final singles point by forfeit at No. 6.
Doubles play followed and resulted in three points for the visitors. John and Hall dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1 doubles to Kohler and Garcia, while the Samadian and Bedwell pairing fell 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to Lauver and Kraychik. The No. 3 doubles point was decided by forfeit in favor of Elizabethtown.
The Monarchs play their final Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match of the season on Wednesday, April 15, traveling to DeSales University. First serve against the Bulldogs is slated for 3:30 p.m.
