Monarchs Drop Senior Day Doubleheader to Stevens

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 18, 2026) -- The King's College baseball team closed out their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom series with Stevens Institute of Technology in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at Lipo Field, falling by scores of 3-0 and 12-0. The Monarchs move to 6-22 overall and 1-16 in conference play, while the Ducks improve to 22-13 overall and 10-7 in MAC Freedom action.

Prior to first pitch, King's honored its 10 graduating seniors with a Senior Day ceremony in recognition of their contributions to the program. The group included Michael Cohen, Christian Galimi, Blaze Graham, Garrett Horvath, Ricky Hynick, Owen Kosar, Matt Masala, Wyatt Moore, Sean Noone and Brayden Schoonmaker, who were recognized alongside their families before the afternoon's doubleheader.

Game 1 - Stevens 3, King's 0
King's generated early traffic in the bottom of the first, as Troy Neff singled and later stole second, but the Monarchs were unable to convert the opportunity. Neff singled again in the game, while Noone contributed a base hit out of the bottom of the lineup as King's recorded two hits overall.

On the mound, Connor Reynolds delivered a strong complete-game effort for the Monarchs. Reynolds worked all seven innings, allowing just two earned runs on six hits while striking out one. He repeatedly worked out of traffic, inducing fly balls and soft contact to keep the contest within reach into the late innings.

Defensively, King's turned a double play in the third inning to erase a rally and also cut down a runner attempting to steal second base in the first, preventing Stevens from building additional momentum early.

Game 2 - Stevens 12, King's 0
Stevens struck first again in the nightcap, but King's defense delivered several momentum‑stopping plays throughout the early innings. In the top of the first, Cohen backed all the way up to the left‑field wall to haul in a deep fly ball for the final out of the inning, keeping the deficit at one.

The Ducks added another run in the second, then pushed across a run in the top of the third. King's limited further damage in the inning by picking a Stevens runner off on the basepaths to halt what could have become a larger rally. Stevens added a fourth run in the top of the fourth, but the Monarchs prevented more as Neff threw out a runner attempting to tag and score from third, delivering a one‑hop strike from center field to Moore at the plate to end the frame.

In the fifth inning, Stevens looked to add on again with an extra‑base hit, but King's cut the play down as the Monarchs executed a perfect relay to nail the runner attempting to stretch the hit into a triple for the second out of the inning. The Ducks eventually broke the game open in the seventh with an eight‑run inning, bringing the ten‑run rule into effect and closing out the doubleheader.

At the plate, King's collected seven hits in the nightcap, highlighted by a four‑hit performance from Mikey Timinski, who finished 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and consistently sparked the Monarchs' offense from the top of the lineup. Cohen also added a pair of hits as King's drew four walks.

Masala took the loss after working the opening three innings, striking out two. Galimi, Horvath, Hynick, and Aydan Davis each contributed out of the bullpen.

The Monarchs return to Lipo Field on Tuesday, April 21 for a nonconference meeting with Marywood University. First pitch against the Pacers is slated for 4:00 p.m.
