Varner Breaks Discus Throw School Record in Impressive Day at Misericordia; Shoemaker Sets Hammer Throw Record at Paul Donahue Invitational

DALLAS, PA/CHESTER, PA(April 18, 2026) – The King's College women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Misericordia Invitational on Saturday afternoon as Katey Shoemaker took on the hammer throw at Widener's Paul Donahue Invite. The day across two events was littered with strong performances, headlined by a school record for Shoemaker in the hammer and Brandy Varner in the discus.

In the discus at Widener, Katey Shoemaker claimed first place, taking down the school record once again in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.92 meters, besting her previous record of 52.88 meters from the Bison Outdoor Classic last weekend. The throw currently stands as the best in the conference, second in the region, and ninth in the nation.
 
Misericordia Invitational
In the track events, Cecilia Chipriano placed third overall in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:25.50, while teammate Mara Ryan earned seventh at 6:01.63.
 
Ali Butcher won the 100-meter dash preliminaries by crossing the line in 12.88, while teammates Erin McLean and Timara Klotz placed third and fourth respectively, as McLean ran a time of 13.21 and Klotz stopped the clock at 13.53. In the finals, Butcher won the event with a time of 12.74, while Klotz placed third at 13.41.
 
In the 400-meter dash, Eveyln Sahd topped the event at 1:01.10. Ava Butcher earned fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.41, while Kat Smith earned fifth by posting a time of 2:25.44.
 
Smith won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.47, as Ava Butcher finished behind her in second at 26.97, and Ali Butcher placed third by crossing the line in 27.17. Erin McLean rounded out the top five by posting a fifth place finish at 28.08.
 
In the field events, Brandy Varner placed first in the shot put at 13.58 meters, while teammate Nayeli Moliere finished in second behind Varner with a toss of 11.28 meters. Additionally, Aerie Sanders claimed ninth with a throw of 9.43 meters, and Dani Rimsky took 15th at 7.56 meters.
 
Varner continued her dominance as she won her second event of the day with a school and personal record performance in the discus Varner broke her own record by 2.75 meters with a toss of 48.84 meters, the best mark in the conference, second best in the region and third in the nation. Sanders placed fourth in the event at 31.94 meters.

King's dominated the women's hammer throw with a one-two finish, as Caitlin Kirk captured the title with a mark of 49.10 meters and Brandy Varner followed closely in second at 48.85 meters. Nayeli Moliere added to the team's effort with an eighth-place finish at 32.87 meters.
 
Ariela Towsey posted a toss of 30.37 meters to receive fifth in the javelin throw, Sarah Hartzell earned ninth at 25.30 meters, and Nayeli Moliere finished 12th at 18.08 meters.
 
Dani Rimsky claimed second place at 2.35 meters in the pole vault. Soyer Delucy placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters, while Rimsky earned 11th at 4.33 meters.
 
In the triple jump, Delucy finished in second with a leap of 10.00 meters and teammate Makenzie Bannon took sixth at 9.22 meters.
 
In the high jump, Avery Kosloski finished in second at 1.51 meters, as teammate Rimsky took fifth at 1.37 meters.
 
The Monarchs placed second overall as a team with 165 points. Misericordia won the invitational with a team score of 245.
 
The King's College women's track and field team returns to action on Saturday, April 25, as the team competes at the Monarch Open at the Betzler Outdoor Track & Field Stadium.
