DOYLESTOWN, PA (April 23, 2026) -- The King's College baseball team opened its final Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom series of the season Wednesday afternoon, falling 10-5 at Delaware Valley University in the opener of the three-game set. The Monarchs move to 6-24 overall and 1-16 in MAC Freedom play, while Del Val improves to 15-22 overall and 5-10 in conference action.
Â
Although the contest was played at Delaware Valley, the Aggies batted first after the game was originally scheduled to be played at Lipo Field, preserving King's designation as the home team for lineup order purposes.
Â
Matt Masala made the start on the mound for King's and worked a clean top of the first inning. Masala opened the game by inducing a groundout back to the mound, followed by a fly out to center field, and capped the frame with another ground ball to shortstop, retiring Del Val in order.
Â
King's followed with a five-run bottom of the first to seize early momentum.
Troy Neff opened the inning with a single and advanced into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by
Mikey Timinski before
Owen Kosar brought him home with an RBI single.
Jaiden Wanamaker followed with a base hit, and
Zach Jenkins delivered a two-run single to center field to extend the lead. The rally continued when
Joshua Quinones hit a bloop single that found grass in right field, causing two more runs to score and giving King's a 5-0 advantage.
Â
Masala returned to the mound and again kept Del Val off the scoreboard with another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the second.. The Aggies broke through in the third, capitalizing on baserunners and aggressive play to score three runs and cut the deficit to 5-3.
Â
Delaware Valley continued to apply pressure in the fifth, sending multiple runners into scoring position and pushing across four runs to take a 7-5 lead. King's threatened in the middle innings, putting runners aboard in both the sixth and eighth, but was unable to convert those opportunities against Del Val pitching.
Â
The Aggies added insurance in the ninth inning, scoring three times to extend the margin and close out the series opener, 10-5.
Â
Kosar paced the Monarchs offensively with two hits and an RBI, while Jenkins drove in two runs during the opening-inning rally. Neff set the tone at the top of the lineup with an early hit and run scored, and Wanamaker also contributed a base hit as King's finished with 10 hits in the contest.
Â
Masala took the loss after working four innings.
Garrett Horvath,
Logan Smith,
Brian Beltre,
Jacob DiCicco,
Ricky Hynick and
Nelson Martinez combined out of the bullpen. King's turned a double play defensively and worked through several jams, but could not slow Del Val's sustained offense late.
The Monarchs return home to Lipo Field tomorrow to conclude MAC Freedom play with a doubleheader against Delaware Valley. First pitch in Game 1 is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
