Women’s Track & Field Celebrates Senior Day at the Monarch Open, Kirk Breaks Meet Record in the Hammer Throw

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 25, 2026) – The King's College women's track and field team competed in their final regular season spring outdoor track and field meet on a rainy Saturday morning with some dominant performances and a meet record by Katey Shoemaker, as the team hosted the Monarch Open Invitational at the Betzler Outdoor Track and Field Stadium.
 
The team additionally honored five graduating athletes – Brandy Varner, Kat Smith, Samantha Adams, Cecilia Chipriano, Caitlin Kirk and Katey Shoemaker - following the conclusion of Saturday's meet.
 
In the track events, the squad of Ali Butcher, Ava Butcher, Erin McLean, and Kat Smith topped the 4 x 100 meter relay at 50.20 seconds.
 
In the 1,500 meter run, Mara Ryan earned fifth with a personal best time of 5:50.41, over six seconds faster than her previous time.
 
Dani Rimsky placed third overall in the 100 meter hurdles at 19.75 seconds. Timara Klotz finished fourth overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.73, while teammate Alexis Jones earned 14th at 16.22 seconds.
 
Eveyln Sahd topped the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 2:25.80, over three seconds quicker than her original performance.
 
In the 200 meter dash, Smith won the event at 26.25 seconds and teammate Ali Butcher finished in second behind smith at 26.95 seconds. McLean earned fifth place at 27.74 seconds and Jone finished in 14th at 34.39 seconds.
 
In the field events, Caitlin Kirk broke the Betzler Track and Field Stadium hammer throw record by earning first at 51.28 meters. Kirk's performance was 1.61 meters stronger than the original mark of 49.67 meters that was set on March 22nd, 2025 by Katey Shoemaker. Teammate Brandy Varner finished in second behind Kirk, also breaking the meet record with personal-best throw of 50.43 meters, 1.58 meters better than her previous record. Nayeli Moliere posted a mark of 35.80 meters to earn third, and Aerie Sanders placed sixth at 26.58 meters.
 
In the discus throw, Varner continued her excellence by winning the event at 41.45 meters, while teammate Caitlin Kirk finished in second behind Varner at 32.27 meters, and Sanders took third at 29.04 meters.
 
Caitlin Kirk showed her dominance in the shot put, winning the event with a season best throw of 10.98 meters. Sanders placed second with a toss of 9.15 meters and Moliere got third at 9.14 meters.
 
In the long jump, Soyer Delucy placed first with a leap of 4.78 meters, and teammate Dani Rimsky earned third at 4.26 meters. McKenzie Bannon topped the triple jump with a season-best performance of 9.38 meters. 
 
The Monarchs return to competition on Thursday, April 30 as the team competes at the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Grantham, PA, hosted by Messiah University.
