CHESTER, PA (May 11, 2026) – The King's College women's outdoor track & field team saw four field athletes show solid performances, highlighted by two school records by
Brandy Varner on Monday afternoon at the Widener Final Qualifier at the George A. Hansell Track & Field Stadium.
Brandy Varner opened the day with a third‑place finish in the hammer throw, posting a personal best of 54.10 meters. The mark also shattered the school record, surpassing her previous best from last week's MAC Championship by 2.95 meters and topping teammate
Katey Shoemaker's former record of 52.92 meters by 1.18 meters.
Shoemaker finished fifth in the event respectively with a toss of 49.41 meters, and
Caitlin Kirk placed sixth at 48.95 meters.
Varner continued her dominance by placing second overall in the discus throw at 49.26 meters, and went on to break another school record. The senior standout broke her own personal and program record of 48.84 meters by .42 meters. Her performance is now ranked as the fifth-best mark in the nation.
Kirk and Shoemaker placed seventh and tenth in the discus as Kirk threw for 34.37 meters while Shoemaker landed at 25.75 meters.
In the shot put, Varner claimed second again with a toss of 13.48 meters and Nayelie Moliere took sixths at 11.61 meters.
The Monarchs return to action on Wednesday, May 13 to compete at AARTFC Championships, hosted by Ursinus College.
