COLLEGEVILLE, PA (May 14, 2026) – The King's College women's outdoor track & field team competed Thursday afternoon on the final day of the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships at Patterson Field, hosted by Ursinus College.
The meet was highlighted with
Brandy Varner winning the shot put and discus throw for the second year in a row. Varner was also named the AARTFC Most Outstanding Performer after winning both events and placing second in the hammer throw on Wednesday. Additionally, she became the first King's track & field athlete to earn the award.
On the field, Varner opened the day by defending her shot put title. The senior placed first among 21 competitors with a personal-best throw of 14.22 meters, improving her previous best by 0.54 meters
Varner continued her dominance in the discus throw, as she secured another first place podium finish by winning the event at 49.24 meters. She finished ahead of 26 other competitors to reclaim the title she won at last year's AARTFC Championships.
On the track,
Kat Smith placed 23rd overall and seventh in her heat with a time of 59.15 seconds in the 400 meter dash.
The Monarchs ended the day by scoring a total of 39 points and tying for third overall as a team with Ithaca College out of 50 scoring schools. Rochester won the AARTFC Championship with a team score of 70 points
King's returns to action next week at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse on March 21.
