LA CROSSE, WI (May 21, 2026) – King's College senior Brandy Varner delivered a dominant performance with a first-team All-American finish in the discus throw at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Varner secured a seventh place podium finish in a field of 22 competitors with a mark of 45.97 meters, becoming the program's first outdoor track and field athlete to earn first-team All-American in over eight years.

She is now the second athlete in King's history to earn first-team All-American honors and the first to do so in the discus throw. Jill Korgeski previously placed fifth in the shot put at the 2018 NCAA outdoor championships with a throw of 14.35 meters.

Varner, The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Field Athlete of the Year and the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Most Outstanding Performer, earned her first outdoor All-American honor in just her second appearance at the national outdoor championships. Varner previously competed at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships last season, placing 19th in the discus at 38.53 meters.

The senior standout additionally secured her third career All-American award as well. Earlier this year, she placed seventh in the weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships to earn first-team All-American honors with a school record mark of 17.64 meters. She also finished ninth in the shot put at 13.30 meters to receive second-team All-American recognition.

Varner opened the competition with a throw of 43.23 meters, placing third in the first flight. On her second attempt, she improved to 45.44 meters before launching her best throw of 45.97 meters on her third attempt. Despite improving her mark, Varner moved to sixth place entering the finals, though her throw was enough to advance.

Varner fouled on her fourth and fifth attempts before slipping to seventh place. She closed the competition out with a throw of 41.10 meters on her final attempt to secure first-team All-American honors.

Charlotte Frere of Augustana College won the national title with a mark of 51.14 meters.

Varner returns to action tomorrow, May 22, as she looks to secure her second All-American outdoor award by competing in the shot put at 2:00 p.m.
