WILKES-BARRE, PA (June 29, 2026) -- The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) opened its 2026 Academic All-MAC team announcements Monday morning, with King's College standout Lauren Casey named to the Women's Basketball Academic All-MAC Team.

A total of 10 women's basketball student-athletes from across the MAC Freedom and Commonwealth were recognized for their academic and athletic excellence. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight to both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Casey makes her first appearance on the Academic All-MAC Team following a standout fifth-year season, highlighted by a First Team All-MAC Freedom selection. The Nanticoke, PA native started all 25 games for the Monarchs, leading the team in scoring (14.8 PPG), rebounding (10.9 RPG), and blocks (0.9 BPG), while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. She ranked first in the conference in rebounds per game and placed among the top five in both scoring and field goal percentage. Her top performance came in a 25-point, 16-rebound effort against FDU-Florham, where she shot 46 percent from the field (9-for-16) and 88 percent from the free throw line (7-for-8).

Casey earned MAC Freedom Player of the Week honors on December 12 after totaling 29 points, 25 rebounds, six steals, four blocks, and three assists across wins over Wilkes and Keystone. The forward averaged 14.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 44 percent from the field, showcasing her dominance in the paint on both ends.

A neuroscience major, Casey matched her on-court success with strong academic performance, recording a 3.67 GPA during the spring semester.
