WILKES-BARRE, PA (July 15, 2026) -- The King's College football program has added Matt Blakemore to its coaching staff, head coach Mike Cebrosky announced on Wednesday, bringing a former Monarch back to the sidelines.

Blakemore returns to King's after four seasons as a member of the Monarch football program. Throughout his collegiate career, he demonstrated a commitment to leadership, service, and the values of King's College while contributing to one of the most successful stretches in recent program history.

"Coach Blakemore embodies all traits that we look for in a coach to be a part of our King's College football program," said Cebrosky. "He brings with him a work ethic and an understanding of the game to help our secondary reach success on and off the field."

A safety for the Monarchs, Blakemore appeared in 24 career games and steadily developed into an important contributor in the defensive backfield. During his senior season, he played in all 10 games and ranked among the team's defensive leaders with 57 tackles, including a career-high 10 stops against Wilkes.

Blakemore was also a member of the 2024 King's squad that captured the Middle Atlantic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Football Championship Tournament. During his four years with the Monarchs, the program compiled a 31-13 record and reached postseason play on multiple occasions.

Beyond his contributions on the field, Blakemore distinguished himself as a campus leader. He participated in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Student Government, Special Olympics initiatives, and Unified Track while earning the Fr. Pat Sullivan Leadership & Commitment Award.

"It's an incredible honor to return to my alma mater as a coach," said Blakemore. "I'm excited to help our players grow on and off the field, uphold the standards of our program, and help build something special together."

A graduate of King's College, Blakemore earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Education. Prior to arriving in Wilkes-Barre, he was a standout multi-sport athlete at Methacton High School, where he earned all-conference, all-district, and all-state recognition in football.

As an assistant coach, Blakemore will work with the Monarch secondary while assisting with recruiting, player development, practice preparation, and all other aspects of the football program.
