Men's Tennis Team, Six Student-Athletes Earn ITA Academic Honors

WILKES-BARRE, PA (July 16, 2026) -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced its 2026 Division III Men's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, recognizing outstanding achievement in the classroom. The King's College men's tennis team once again excelled academically, earning ITA All-Academic Team distinction, while six Monarchs were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their individual academic accomplishments.
 
Academics continue to play a vital role in the student-athlete experience, and Division III men's tennis programs once again demonstrated success both in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,151 Division III men's student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, while 147 programs earned ITA All-Academic Team honors.
 
King's secured ITA All-Academic Team recognition after meeting the organization's academic standards. To earn the distinction, a program must:
  • Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
  • Have all student-athletes included listed on the institutional eligibility form.
  • Have all varsity letter winners factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
 
The Monarchs also placed six student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list, including Zackary Bedwell, Gavin Hall, Tim John, Amir Samadian, William Savner, and Logan Tomkins. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, student-athletes must:
  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
  • Be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels of collegiate competition, including NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and Junior/Community College programs.
