CASE SUMMARY
The King's College football team enters the 2026 season with a veteran foundation, established leadership, and a focus on taking the next step in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).
 
One of the biggest storylines for the Monarchs will be the development of a young running back room working behind an experienced offensive line. As the season unfolds, King's will look to blend youthful talent with veteran leadership while continuing to build consistency throughout the roster.
 
"How quickly can a young running back position gel with an experienced offensive line," head coach Mike Cebrosky said when asked about the team's biggest storyline entering the season.
 
 
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
The Monarchs were selected sixth in the 2026 MAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, which was voted on by the conference's head coaches.
 
Defending conference champion Eastern received nine first-place votes and topped the poll with 81 points. Delaware Valley followed in second with 66 points, while Misericordia was third with 61 points. Lebanon Valley and Stevenson tied for fourth with 52 points apiece, followed by King's (48), Widener (31), Albright (27), FDU-Florham (22), and Alvernia (10).
 
With several returning contributors and a strong leadership group in place, the Monarchs enter the season focused on their own development and preparing for the challenges of conference play.
 
 
PROGRAM OUTLOOK
King's will lean on a number of proven contributors as it prepares for the 2026 campaign.
 
Leading the way is senior defensive end Xander Murray, who earned First Team All-MAC honors and D3football.com All-Region recognition last season before being named a D3football.com Preseason All-American heading into 2026. Senior offensive lineman Kaleb Beers also returns after earning First Team All-MAC recognition a season ago and will provide leadership for an experienced offensive front.
 
The Monarchs will also rely on junior quarterback Jaelin Mims and junior wide receiver Kival Clarke to help lead the offense, while senior safety James Mangine anchors the defense with experience and leadership on the back end.
 
That veteran group will be instrumental in helping a young running back room develop chemistry behind an established offensive line as King's looks to build consistency throughout the season.
 
 
MONARCH NOTES
According to Cebrosky, a strong core of leaders and locker room chemistry have emerged as defining strengths of this year's team.
"Leadership and bond has developed and will be the strength of the team," Cebrosky said.

The coaching staff has also seen significant progress in the team's physical development during the offseason.
"Strength and conditioning. Really developed our bodies with Coach Ross [Bowsher]," Cebrosky said.
 
That combination of leadership, accountability, and physical development has helped lay the groundwork for a team that believes it can compete throughout the season.
 
 
THE ROAD AHEAD
The 2026 campaign opens with a pair of home night games that should generate excitement around the program.
 
King's will host the Mayor's Cup to begin the season before returning home the following week for a special evening honoring the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11.
 
"Two night games to start the year at home. Mayor's Cup and then we will honor the 25th anniversary of September 11," Cebrosky said.
Those early opportunities will give the Monarchs a chance to build momentum while playing in front of their home crowd.
 
 
MISSION STATEMENT
Cebrosky believes the team's leadership will be the driving force behind the season's success.
"Excited to see great leadership pull together our team and go 1-0 day in and day out," he said. "Should be a fun one."
 
By maintaining a focus on daily improvement and relying on the bonds developed throughout the offseason, the Monarchs hope to position themselves for a successful campaign in 2026.
