WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 12, 2026) - The King's College women's volleyball team continued its strong start to the season on Saturday, sweeping both Purchase College and Medgar Evers College in a home tri-match at McGrane Gymnasium. The Monarchs opened the day with a 3-0 win over Purchase by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-16 before cruising past Medgar Evers, 25-7, 25-6 and 25-4, to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Bella Boylan led a balanced King's attack against Purchase with nine kills on a .563 hitting percentage while adding two service aces and eight digs. Lindsay Arezina and Weronika Malinowski each added five kills, with Malinowski hitting .444 and recording three aces and 10 digs. Ariela Towsey handed out a team-high 19 assists, while Riley McArdle anchored the defense with 18 digs. King's hit .318 as a team in the victory.
The Monarchs wasted little time taking control of the opener, scoring the first eight points of the match behind three kills and three service aces. King's later used an 8-0 run to extend its advantage to 20-5 before Malinowski finished off the dominant 25-9 opening set with a kill.
After a back-and-forth start to the second set, King's broke a 6-6 tie with four consecutive points and steadily pulled away. Malinowski recorded three kills during the middle stages of the frame as the Monarchs built a 20-11 advantage, and Emma Bolich closed out the 25-14 win with a kill.
King's again jumped ahead early in the third, building a 6-1 advantage before stretching the lead to 12-5. Purchase cut the deficit to seven at 19-12, but the Monarchs maintained control down the stretch and secured the sweep with a 25-16 victory.
The Monarchs carried that momentum into their second match of the day against Medgar Evers. Emma Newman led King's with six kills on nine attempts, while Arezina recorded four kills on five swings. Antonia Leary added three kills on three attempts. King's was especially dominant from the service line, finishing with 39 aces, led by Ryleigh Clouser with 10, Paige Link with nine, Izzy Deluco with seven and Isabella Horvat with five.
Link helped King's seize control immediately, serving the Monarchs to a 12-0 advantage to begin the first set, including seven service aces during the run. Clouser later added six aces of her own in another lengthy service run as King's rolled to a 25-7 victory.
King's continued to dominate from the service line in the second. The Monarchs built an 11-3 lead before pulling away, and Deluco served seven consecutive aces to account for the final seven points of a 25-6 win.
The Monarchs finished the day in commanding fashion, racing out to a 10-1 lead in the third set. King's later turned a 15-4 advantage into a 25-4 victory behind a 10-0 closing run, with Clouser serving the final 10 points to complete the second sweep of the afternoon.
The Monarchs return to action on Tuesday, September 15 when they head to Madison, NJ to take on FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m. in the first MAC Freedom action of the season.
