FREDERICK, MD. (September 26, 2026) -- The King's College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision on the road against Hood College on Saturday afternoon, as the Monarchs move to 3-5-1 on the season.
Hood struck early, finding the back of the net in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead. King's goalkeeper
Ben Van Valkenburg kept the Monarchs within striking distance throughout the opening half, making two saves as Hood held the advantage heading into halftime.
The Monarchs created opportunities of their own in the opening 45 minutes.
Joaquin Cedillo recorded two shots, including one that was saved, while
Santiago Javadpour added another shot for King's.
King's continued to pressure in the second half, with several opportunities coming in the opening 20 minutes.
Mordocher Musinguzi had a shot saved in the 56th minute, followed by two more chances from Cedillo, including one that forced another save. Javadpour added a shot in the 67th minute.
The Monarchs continued to search for the equalizer late, with
Parker Gordon forcing a save in the 75th minute, but King's was unable to find the tying goal.
Hood finished the afternoon with a 14-9 advantage in shots, including a 3-4 difference in shots on goal in favor of King's. The Blazers also held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.
Van Valkenburg finished with two saves for the Monarchs, while Hood recorded four saves.
King's returns to action on Wednesday, September 30, when the Monarchs host Susquehanna University at 7:00 PM.
