WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 5, 2026) -- The King's College field hockey team fell 3-0 to Immaculata University at McCarthy Stadium this Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium. The Monarchs drop to 1-1 on the year, while the Mighty Macs improve to 2-0.

Senior captain Davina Krappa opened the game with a shot in the first period that was saved by the Immaculata goalkeeper at 4:35. Melanie Tlatenchi followed with another shot at 5:04 that went wide.

In the second quarter, the Monarchs earned five penalty corners, all of which were taken by Tlatenchi.  At 19:58, Tlatenchi passed the ball to Shaylee Heffron off the penalty corner, but Heffron's shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

The Mighty Macs secured their first penalty corner in the 23rd minute, but first-year goalkeeper Tierney Hogan made her first save of the day.

At 26:32, Hogan made another stop, but Immaculata eventually broke through to take a 1-0 lead at 26:38. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

Early in the third quarter, the Mighty Macs were awarded another penalty corner, but Hogan stopped the ensuing shot. However, Immaculata was given another penalty corner at 35:43 and the team netted in their second goal of the game.

Later in the period, first-year Gwen Erb recorded her first shot of the game at 37:46, but her attempt was denied by the Mighty Macs goalie.

Less than a minute later, Immaculata threatened to add to its lead, but Hogan made a diving save at 38:39. Hogan made another crucial stop at 43:21 to keep the visitors from extending their lead.

Near the start of the fourth period, King's was awarded a penalty corner taken by first-year Julia Behnke. Krappa followed in with a shot, but an Immaculata defender made the save.

The Monarchs didn't get another shot off until the 54th minute, when Megan Harry's attempt went wide left.

Immaculata added its third and final goal at 54:33. The match ended with a score of 3-0.

The Monarchs finished with seven penalty corners and seven total shots. Hogan ended the day with a total of five saves.

King's field hockey is set to play again on Wednesday, September 9, as they head to Williamsport, PA for a matchup with the Warriors of Lycoming College at 7:00 p.m.
