One of the finest indoor facilities in the Middle Atlantic Conferences McGrane Gymnasium serves as the home site of the King's College women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and wrestling teams and is housed within the Scandlon Physical Education Center. Remodeled during the summer of 2012, the facility feature new bleachers searting 2,550 spectator. The facility is also utilized by King's baseball, softball, and lacrosse teams for indoor practices during the winter months when they begin preparations for the spring sport season.
The arena features two tiers of seating on both sides which allows the bleachers to be opened or retracted independently to accommodate the specific needs of the teams utilizing the facility. An indoor batting cage and pitching areas are also utilized by the baseball and softball teams when the upper bleachers are retracted.
A media press box is also located on the south wall of the arena, providing local and regional sports news affiliates a private area to aid in their coverage of King's College Athletics. A new air-conditioning system was also installed to increase the comfort of spectators and athletes alike.
The facility is named after Bob McGrane, a 1951 King's graduate and former team captain of the Monarch basketball team. McGrane would return to King's to serve as head coach of the Monarchs from the 1953-54 season through the 1966-67 campaign, compiling a 149-133 record in 14 seasons.
Â
McGrane Gym in the Scandlon Center underwent a new floor design during the summer of 2015. A darker floor with a
lighter texture in the three-point shooting area are vastly different than the previous version. King's bold, new lion logo is
also much larger than the previous logo on the gym floor and adds a look of intensity that represents King's Athletics.
