In July of 2002, Jerry Greeley was named the head coach of the King's College baseball team. A noted area baseball figure, Greeley owns extensive coaching experience at the professional, semi-professional, and collegiate levels.
Since his first season at King's in 2003, Greeley has led the Monarchs to five Freedom Conference playoff berths. In 2007, he led King's to a single-season program record of 28 victories, marking the fourth straight year his teams have broken the school-record for wins in one year.
In 2006, he guided King's to its finest season ever when the Monarchs won the Freedom Conference title and claimed the program's first-ever berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Greeley was selected by his peers as the 2006 Freedom Conference "Coach of the Year.
His seven-year head coaching mark at King's stands at 150-111-2 heading into the 2010 campaign.
During the summer of 2005, after serving two seasons as a minor league coach for the Cincinnati Reds, Greeley returned to the Baltimore Orioles organization as a coach for their Appalachian League affiliate in Bluefield, WV. This is Greeley's second stint in the Orioles' organization as he spent 1997-98 in Bluefield and 1999-2001 with the Orioles' entry in the Gulf Coast League.
While with Cincinnati, Greeley was assigned to the Class "A" Billings Mustangs in Montana in 2002 and Sarasota of the Gulf Coast League in 2003. The 2010 season was Greeley's 13th year as a professional coach in Major League baseball's minor league system as will return to the Bluefield staff.
As the head coach at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, he compiled a 224-125 record and led the Mountain Lions to four conference championships. Greeley, who had served as head coach at the PSU Wilkes-Barre Campus since 1995, was also a one-time assistant coach at King's, working five years with the Monarch program during the 1990-94 seasons.
As an assistant at King's in 1992, Greeley helped pilot the Monarchs to the MAC Northern Division championship. In 1993, King's shared the first-ever MAC Freedom League title following the conferences realignment.
Greeley also spent 12 years as head coach and general manager of Orloski's collegiate/semi-professional baseball team. From 1985-1997, the team played in two separate league as Greeley guided the squad to a 403-144 record while winning 19 league titles.
He served as Baseball Coordinator for the Pocono Region of the Keystone State Games from 1995-2001 and was the State Baseball Director in 1997. He is also the owner and director of the Jerry Greeley Grand Slam Baseball Camps and Clinics in Wilkes-Barre.
He is currently employed full-time as a Lifeskills Support Teacher/Job Site Supervisor in the Pocono Mountain School District.
Greeley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from East Stroudsburg University in 1989, then completed his Master of Education degree in Health and Physical Education, and Sport Management and Administration at East Stroudsburg in 1998. He also completed his Secondary and Elementary Principal Certification from Temple University in 2002.
He is a member of the Association of Professional Ballplayers of America; the American Baseball Coaches Association; the Pocono Mountain Educational Association; the Pennsylvania State Educational Association; and the National Education Association. He was also recently honored by the ABCA for his 700th career coaching win with King's, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, and Orloski's. He currently owns an impressive 777-380-2 combined coaching record.
Greeley has also been active with the Pennsylvania Special Olympics and Challenger Division Baseball. He was inducted into the Luzerne County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Greeley was also a Jefferson Award finalist in 2008 for his involvement in numerous community service activities
He resides in Blakeslee with his wife Robin and daughter Lisa Mia and son Jerry Don (J.D.).
