JERRY GREELEY

Biography

In July of 2002, Jerry Greeley was named the head coach of the King's College baseball team. A noted area baseball figure, Greeley owns extensive coaching experience at the professional, semi-professional, and collegiate levels.

At King's Head Coach
 
  • Since his first season at King's in 2003, Greeley has led the Monarchs to 12 Freedom Conference playoff berths. In 2007, he led King's to a single-season program record of 28 victories, marking the fourth straight year his teams have broken the school-record for wins in one year.
  • His head coaching mark at King's stands at 378-413-4 at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign.

Program Milestones
  • In 2006, he guided King's to its finest season ever when the Monarchs won the Freedom Conference title and claimed the program's first-ever berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Greeley was selected by his peers as the 2006 Freedom Conference "Coach of the Year."
  • He was also selected 2016 Freedom Conference "Coach of the Year” by his peers after leading the Monarchs to a 23-13 record.
  • Greeley has led King's to Freedom Conference Tournament berths in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021.

Previous Coaching Experience
  • Will spend the summer of 2025 with his third stint in Bluefield as he will join the coaching staff of the Bluefield Ridge Runners in the Appalachian League, which is a league run by Major League Baseball and USA Baseball.
  • Spent the summer of 2022 as a coach for the Trenton Thunder of the MLB's Draft League.
  • During the summer of 2005, after two seasons as a minor league coach for the Cincinnati Reds, Greeley returned to the Baltimore Orioles organization as a coach for their Appalachian League affiliate in Bluefield, WV.  It was Greeley’s second stint in the Orioles’ organization as he spent 1997-1998 in Bluefield and 1999-2001 with the Orioles’ entry in the Gulf Coast League.
  • The 2020 summer was Greeley’s 23rd year as a professional coach in Major League Baseball’s minor league system, as he will re- join the Orioles’ Sarasota entry in the Gulf Coast League for the 10th consecutive year. Greeley was previously with the Cincinnati Reds’ Class “A” Billings Mustangs in Montana in 2002 and Sarasota of the Gulf Coast League in 2003.
  • As the head coach at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, he compiled a 224-125 record and led the Mountain Lions to four conference championships. Greeley, who had served as head coach at the PSU Wilkes-Barre Campus from 1995 to 2002, was also a one-time assistant coach at King's, working five years with the Monarch program during the 1990-1994 seasons. He was inducted into the Penn State Wilkes Barre Hall of Fame in May of 2014.
  • As an assistant at King's in 1992, Greeley helped pilot the Monarchs to the MAC Northern Division championship. In 1993, King's shared the first-ever MAC Freedom League title following the conferences realignment.
  • Greeley also spent 12 years as head coach and general manager of Orloski's collegiate/semi-professional baseball team. From 1985-1997, the team played in two separate leagues as Greeley guided the squad to a 403-144 record while winning 19 league titles.
  • He served as Baseball Coordinator for the Pocono Region of the Keystone State Games from 1995-2001 and was the State Baseball Director in 1997. He is also the owner and director of Jerry Greeley’s Player Development Baseball Academy in Northeast PA.

Personal
  • He is currently employed full-time as a Lifeskills Support Teacher/Job Site Supervisor in the Pocono Mountain School District.
  • Has recently taken over as President of Challenger Sports, a sports program for special needs children and adults.
  • Also served as the Athletic Director for the Crestwood School District during the 2017-18 school year, and is currently the Assistant Athletic Director at Pocono Mountain East High School in Swiftwater, PA. 
  • Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from East Stroudsburg University in 1989, and then completed his Master of Education degree in Health and Physical Education, and Sport Management and Administration at East Stroudsburg in 1998. He also completed his Secondary and Elementary Principal Certification from Temple University in 2002.
  • Member of the Association of Professional Ballplayers of America; the American Baseball Coaches Association; the NCAA Regional Advisory Baseball Committee; the Pocono Mountain Educational Association; the Pennsylvania State Educational Association; and the National Education Association.
  • Honored by the ABCA in 2017 for his 900th career coaching win with King's, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, and Orloski's. He currently owns an impressive 994-655-4 combined coaching record.
  • Honored in 2017 by the State of Pennsylvania with the Loretta Woodson Award for unselfish dedication to education and in 2019 for Excellence in Education for the Jared Box project. The Jared Box Project has delivered 22,000 boxes of toys and games to sick children over the past 16 years.   
  • Active with the Pennsylvania Special Olympics and Challenger Division Baseball.
  • Inducted into the Luzerne County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Greeley was also a Jefferson Award finalist in 2008 for his involvement in numerous community service activities. Jerry was also the Director of the indoor baseball league at the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome, President of the Pocono Mountain West Little League, and established the Greeley Thunder travel baseball team for youth players.
  • Resides in Blakeslee with his wife Robin and has daughters Lisa and Mia and son Jerry Don (J.D.).
