J.P. ANDREJKO

Entering the 2013-14 season, King's head coach J.P. Andrejko embarks on his 13th season at the helm. Andrejko, who became King's head coach leading into the 2001-02 season, was also named King's assistant director of Athletics in 2004-05 and was also appointed the College's head golf coach that same year after working two years as an assistant.

Andrejko has piloted King's basketball to the MAC Freedom Conference playoffs eight times during his career, winning conference championships and NCAA Division III National Tournament berths in 2004-05, 2006-07, and 2007-08.  In 2004-05, Andrejko led King's to a program-best 24-6 record, the MAC Freedom Conference championship, and the program's first trip to the NCAA Division III national tournament's "Elite Eight". He was rewarded by being named the MAC Freedom "Coach of the Year".

At King's, he has a career coaching record of 195-125 entering the 2013-14 campaign.

Since taking over at King's, Andrejko has produced 19 All-Freedom Conference selections. His teams have also excelled in the classroom as 58 players have been named to the Middle Atantic Conference Academic Honor Roll (3.20 GPA and above) during his tenure.

Andrejko owns a history of great success as both a player and coach. From 1996-2001, he served as assistant coach to legendary University of Scranton head coach Bob Bessoir and helped the Royals to five MAC playoffs berths as well as two bids into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

As a player from 1984-88, Andrejko enjoyed one of the finest careers in the rich history of Scranton basketball. During this time he led the Royals to a 89-30 record and three MAC overall championships. As a senior, he led Scranton to a 29-3 record and a second-place in the Division III National Tournament. That season, Andrejko was named the most valuable player in both the MAC as well as the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament. Additionally, he was named to the 1988 NCAA Final Four "All-Tournament Team".

Andrejko was a three-time MAC first-team all-star as well as a three-time Eastern College Athletic Conference all-star. He still stands near the top of the University of Scranton record books in several categories, including scoring where he ranks fourth all-time with 1,731 career points.

An outstanding student at Scranton, Andrejko became the first player in school history to be named academic all-American as well as a basketball All-American in the same year and was presented an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

He was inducted into the Plains Hall of Fame in 1996 and the University of Scranton Wall of Fame in 1997.

Andrejko graduated from Scranton in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He completed his Master's degree in School Counseling from Scranton in 1991 and had been employed as a guidance counselor at Pocono Mountain High School for 10 years prior to his arrival at King's.
