Biography

Bernie Kachinko was named as the head coach for the inaugural varsity men’s volleyball program at King’s College prior to the 2019-2020 season and completed his second season at the completion of the 2022 campaign. Prior to the varsity program’s first season, Kachinko led the men’s volleyball club program from 1992-2001.At King's Head Coach
  • Led the men’s volleyball club team with a career record of 252-53 while his teams were nationally ranked in the Division II Club Team Top-25 for seven years.
  • The club team won 26 tournament championships and posted a 31-14 record at the national tournament, placing third in 2000 and finishing in the top-five in 1999 and 2001. They also won four MAC Club Volleyball Conference championships.
  • Career varsity record of 32-17 and 5-13 in the MAC.

  • Completed inaugural varsity season in the spring of 2020 with a winning overall record.

Personal
  • Resides in Hanover Township, Pa. with his wife Marina (King’s ’86) and son Lukas.
  • 1986 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications.
  • Played for Division I level East Stroudsburg prior to transferring to Penn State.
  • 1982 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School where he was a two-time conference all-star
  • Led his high school program to the 1982 Wyoming Valley Conference championship with a perfect 10-0 record.
  • Member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association, and has served on the AVCA Top-25 National Rankings Committee from 2003-2009.
