The 2014 season marks the third year for Laura Patton as head women's lacrosse coach at King's College. Patton came to King's after serving as the lead assistant coach at Susquehanna University for three years.
In her first season in 2012, Patton led a short-handed King's squad to a 10-8 overall record and a spot in the Freedom Conference playoffs for the first time since the 2005 season. The 2012 Lady Monarchs also turned in three of the top six single season scoring performances in the programs history.
Her 2013 squad just missed a post-season tournament berth with a loss on the final game of the season.
Patton was a four-year player and three-year starter at NCAA Division III Ursinus College which competes in the nationally-respected Centennial Conference. At Ursinus, she helped the Bears to a combined 39-28 overall record as well as a 24-12 mark in league competition, including three Centennial Conference playoff berths in 2005-07 Patton, who served as a team tri-captain during her senior season in 2008, totaled 49 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers, and 10 draw controls from her defensive position. In 2006 and 2007, she was named most valuable teammate by her coaches and teammates.
In addition, she received the Ursinus Student Athlete Advisory Committee Sportsmanship Award and made the college's athletic honor roll every season. Dean's List student, Patton graduated from Ursinus with a 3.51 overall grade-point average with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Exercise and Sport Science. She also received the Ursinus College Achievement Award.
As a member of the coaching staff at Susquehanna, Patton was involved in all aspects of the women's program, including coaching, conditioning, practice and game-day planning, budgeting, travel preparation, and recruiting. During her time at Susquehanna, the Crusaders tallied a combined 24-22 record, including a semi-final berth in the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament.
Patton coached two players who were named to the the All-Region team and also mentored the 2010 Landmark Conference “Rookie of the Year”. Additionally, Susquehanna head coach Lauren Moan and Patton were named the Landmark Conference's “Coaching Staff of the Year” in 2010. In the past three seasons, Patton helped coach nine Susquehanna players who earned All-Landmark Conference honors.
At King's, Patton takes over a Lady Monarch program that comes off a 6-9 overall record while finishing 4-8 in Middle Atlantic Conference play.
Patton is a 2004 graduate of Pennsauken High School, Pennsauken, NJ, where she was a three-year varsity performer.
