King's Falls To Wilkes In Conference Match Up

WILKES-BARRE, PA--- Wilkes midfielder Taryn Hallowell scored a natural hat trick en route to a Wilkes win over King's 6-1. With the win, Wilkes improves to 7-9-1 overall and 3-2 in the Freedom Conference, while King's falls to 2-13-1 and 0-5 in conference play.

Wilkes opened the scoring at 13:36 when Katy Fissel recieved a ball, delivered from Alison Weidman, in front of the goal and chipped it in. The Lady Colonels would find the goal again at 20:53 when Kaitlin Vargo put the ball in on a corner kick sent by Katy Fissel.

Hallowell would score the next three goals for Wilkes, the first at 41:30 in the first half. Casandra Valentin was credited with the assist. Hallowell's next two goals would come unassisted in the second half. Her second score of the night was at 51:35 and the third came at 54:40. 

The final goal for the Colonels came off the foot of Megan Clementson, who sailed the ball over Monarchs defender Rachael Donatiello, who made eight saves on the night.

King's would strike once when freshman Becky Chateauneuf found the ball over the entire Wilkes team at midfield and carried the ball all the way to the Colonel's goal and finished the shot with a defender hot on her heels.

In the game, Wilkes held a 26-3 advantage in shots and 7-0 in corners. Wilkes played three goalies, none of whom made a save.

The Lady Monarchs will be back in action this weekend for Homecoming when they host the Crusaders of Alvernia University. Game time is scheduled for 11:00am Saturday morning.
