Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 In Double OT to Manhattanville

WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS HEARTBREAKER IN DOUBLE OT

PURCHASE, NY--- In a game that could not be deceided in 90 minutes of regulation and ten minutes of one overtime, the Lady Monarchs dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to Manhattanville just two minutes into the second overtime period Wednesday night.

With the loss, King's drops to 3-14-1 overall and 1-6 in league play, while Manhattanville improves to 9-9 and 4-3 in the Freedom.

At the end of the first half, with the score knotted at 0-0, Manhattanville controlled the pace of the game, out-shooting King's 10-3 . In the second half, the Valiants dominated the play, taking 14 shots to the Monarchs one. After 90 minutes of game time logged, the game would go into the first overtime period.

Again Manhattanville controlled the ball, taking three shots. But King's was able to hang on and force a second overtime period. But the game would be deceided at 102:23 of play when Manhattanville's Dawn Belonick scored the game winner on a penalty kick.

On the night, Monarch goal tender Rachael Donatiello made nine saves on 30 Valiant's shots. King's managed five shots in the game.

The Lady Monarchs close out their season Saturday afternoon at 12:00pm when they travel to Center Valley, PA for a conference match up with DeSales University.
