KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO ELMIRA 1-0 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
ELMIRA, NY -- Jenna Wellington scored the only goal of the game just 0:52 into the second overtime period as host Elmira College posted a 1-0 victory over visiting King's College in a non-conference women's soccer matchup Tuesday in Elmira, NY.
With the win, King's fell to 1-5 on the year while Elmira posted its first victory in six games.
After 90 minutes of regulation and one 10-minute overtime session, the game ended suddenly when Wellington placed a shot from 30 yards out just over the outstretched arms of King's goal
Sara Ciarlo to give the Eagles the victory.
Ciarlo was solid on goal for the Lady Monarchs, making 10 saves on the day.
Elmira outshot King's 23-12 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Monarchs return to action Thursday at 4:00 p.m. when King's travels to face the University of Scranton at Fitzpatrick Field.
