KING'S SWIMMERS SWEEP ARCADIA, AMANDA CASEY SETS SCHOOL RECORD

GLENSIDE -- The King's College men's and women's swimming teams were both victorious Saturday with a sweep of host Arcadia University in Glenside.

The Lady Monarchs were victorious by a 164-80 count and improved to 7-6 overall and 2-4 in Middle Atlantic Conference meets.  The Monarch men won 128-93 to improve to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in conference meets.

Standout performances include Maggie Nealer sweeping first place finishes in all three of her individual events, capturing the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 500 freestyle. Also,
Amanda Casey set a new school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.75, breaking the old mark of 1:07.11 set by Sarah Hilbert in 2001.  Casey also won the 200 backstroke.

Other Lady Monarch winners included Becca Smith (1,000 freestyle), Caitlin Casey (100 and 200 butterfly), Becca Smith (50 freestyle), and Sara Schmader (400 individual medley). Additionally, King's 200 freestyle relay team of Nealer, Smith Caitlin Casey, and Amanda Casey were victorious. King's team of Hughes, Schmader,, Caitlin Selitto, and Krystina Homanko were also winners, capturing the 200 medley relay.
 
For the men, Jack Harrington did the same, winning the 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, and 100 freestyle.  Additional winners on the men's side were Dave Washick (1,000 freestyle), Ben Broedel (200 freestyle), Eric Stencovage (100 and 200 breaststroke), Josh DeBellas (500 freestyle), and Brandon Senese (100 butterfly). In relay action, the Monarch team of Washick, Broedel, Stencovage, and Harrington won the 200 freestyle event. Also, King's team of Senese, DeBellas, Broedel, and Kevin Judge captured the 200 medley relay.

King's swimmers will be idle until January 7 with a 6:00 p.m. away meet at Ramapo College.
