MANHATTANVILLE DEFEATS KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM, 4-1
WILKES-BARRE -- Holly Nonis scored two goals to lead the visiting Manhattanville College women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over host King's College Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, Manhattanville improved to 12-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the Freedom Conference while King's fell to 4-11 and 0-4 in league play.
Bailey Flood scored the first goal for Manhattanville off an assist from Cybil Robinson just 1:32 into the game. The Valiants took a 2-0 lead on an unassisted goal from Holly Nonis at 33:00.
The Valiants built a 3-0 lead in the second half when Robinson scored off a header following a corner kick by Kathyrn Moore at 39:16.
King's would get on the board at 31:25 when Becky Chateaneuf stuck net for the Lady Monarchs off an assist by Jade Zuniga.
The Valiants would up the lead to 4-1 when Nonis scored again when she outraced the King's defense down the right win with 5:18 on the clock.
Manhattanville outshot King's 24-3 and held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks. Rachael Donatiello made 11 saves for the Lady Monarchs.
