King's Women's Soccer Falls to Miseri, 5-2

MISERICORDIA WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS KING'S
 
WILKES-BARRE –  The Misericordia University women's soccer team opened up a 4-0 half-time lead, en route to a 5-2 victory over King's College Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.
 
With the win, Misericordia ended the regular-season with a 8-11 record while King's saw its campaign come to an end with a 5-14 mark.
 
Laura Roney gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal from 35 yards out 9:25 into the game. Misericordia took a 2-0 lead at 19:53 when Kim Suchoski scored off an assist from Roney. The Cougars 38:42 mark. a 3-0 lead when Sam Helmstetter struck net off a Suchoski assist at the 38:32 mark. Misericordia took a 4-0 halftime lead after Andrea Sierer scored on a pass by Ashley McDonnell at 43:33.

King's reached the scoreboard early in the second half when Brianne Schmidt scored at 52:29. The Lady Monarchs cut the lead to 4-2 at 57:37 when Jade Zuniga scored off an assist by Colleen Davis.
 
The Cougars took a 5-2 lead when a King's player inadvertently redirected a shot going wide of the net into the Lady Monarch net at 61:12 for the final score of the game.

Misericordia outshot King's 18-6 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. King's goalie Rachael Donatiello made two save sin playing the first half while Melissa D'Aniello added four stops in the second. Misericordia keeper Morgan Myers made four stops.
