Game Preview-Field Hockey Set to Face Eastern in Freedom Conference Finals

KING'S WILL TRAVEL TO EASTERN IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE FINALS

WILKES – BARRE - The King's College field hockey team will be facing Eastern University in the Freedom Conference Tournament final on Saturday.  The game will start at 1:00 at Eastern University located in St. David's Pa.

Ticket prices, as mandated by the MAC Office, have been set at $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students, while children under age-six will be admitted free of charge.

Eastern WILL NOT be utilizing LiveStats during the game.

King's enters with a 10-8 overall record, while Eastern enters with a 16-4 overall mark. Both teams earned a 2-1 overtime victories over their opponents during Wednesday's semi-finals. For King's their victory over Wilkes University came 8:53 into overtime as Jenera Quinones pushed across the game-winner. For Quinones, who now has 29 points, it was her 13th goal of the year, which leads the Monarchs offensively.  Shawna Walp follows with 15 points on five goals and five assists.  Heather Kozimor adds 12 points on five goals and two assists.

Candice Russ, Calli Berryman and Jackie Sikora all contribute with 10 points each, with Russ notching five goals, while Berryman and Sikora both have four goals and two assists. Danielle Terracciano and Shelby Trenge both have recorded nine points each, with Terracciano recording four goals and one assist, while Trenge tallied three goals and three assists. Erin McGinley has made 72 saves in 1062:17 minutes in net for a 2.63 goals against average.

In Eastern's victory over Delaware Valley College the Eagles championship ticket was punched by a goal from Christin Hass who struck early in overtime on a penalty corner. Yvonne Herbster has led the Eagles offense with 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists. Lindsay Moyer follows with 23 points on eight goals and seven assists. Kimberly Campbell adds 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Oliva Derr tallies 14 points on six goals and two assists. Elya Troup notched 13 points on five goals and three assists. Sarah Garber wrapped up the scoring for Eastern with 10 points on three goals and four assists.

The last time these two teams met was on October 17 at Eastern with the Eagles picking up the 3-1 decision. Ely Troup opened the scoring for Eastern that day 5:32 into the game, King's struck back with a goal from Quinones, which would tie the game. Eastern would use goals from Kim Campbell at 29:30 and Brittany Moyer with no time left in the first half as the Eagles took a 3-1 lead and the eventual victory as neither team scored over the final 35 minutes of play.

The winner of the Freedom Conference championship receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
