KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO BAPTIST BIBLE, 5-0

CLARKS SUMMIT -- Laurie Plante scored two goals to lead the host Baptist Bible women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over King's College in a non-conference pairing Thursday in Clarks Summit.

With the win, Baptist Bible improved to 2-3 while King's slipped to 2-5.

Plante gave the Defenders a 1-0 lead just 1:44 into the game off an assist from Jocelyn Mantz.  At 13:03, Mantz scored a goal of her own following a pass from Laura Abbey. The defenders would build a 3-0 halftime lead when Plante scored on a breakaway with just 1:04 remaining in the opening stanza.

The score would remain the same until Baptist Bible added two late goals.  Brittany DeWalt would score on a diving header following a corner kick with 2:58 left in the contest while Sandy Richie struck net with 2:00 remaining.

The Defenders outshot King's 14-9 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Lady Monarch goalie Melissa D'Aniello made two saves while Baptist Bible keeper Melanie Williams posted two stops.

The Lady Monarchs return to action Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. road matchup with Keystone College in LaPlume.
