MEN'S SOCCER POSTS 3-0 WIN OVER GREEN MOUNTAIN COLLEGE, 3-0

POULTNEY, VT --  Joey Bender scored a pair of goals with one assist and the King's College defense allowed just two shots as the Monarch men's soccer team posted a 3-0 victory over host Green Mountain College Saturday in Poultney, VT.

With the win King's improved to 2-0 while Green Mountain slipped to 0-1-1.

Bender gave the Monarchs a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick 13:19 into the game. King's built a 2-0 halftime lead when Rob McGuiness struck net following a pass from Bender.  The Monarchs tallied the final goal of the game at the 64:04 mark when Bender scored his second goal hanks ot an assist from Yehudi Maldonado.

King's defense was outstanding in permitting the host squad to just one shot attempt in each half as the Monarchs held a 27-2 advantage in total shots. King's also led 10-2 in corner kicks.  Monarch goalie Andrew O'Shura gained the shutout win by making two saves.

King's returns to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove.
