King's Women's Soccer Falls 4-1 at Misericordia in Freedom Play

WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS 4-1 AT MISERICORDIA IN FREEDOM PLAY

WILKES-BARRE – Kim Suchoski scored three goals to propel host Misericordia University to a 4-1 Freedom Conference victory over King's College in women's soccer action Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

King's slips to 1-13 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while Misericordia improves to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in Freedom play.

Suchoski gave the Cougars an early 1-0 lead just 2:34 into the contest when she put home a Courtney Dillon cross from the right side. King's would respond before the half as Jackie Wheatley would tie the game at 1-1 when she found the back of the net off a direct kick from 25 yards out at 39:15.

Misericordia would break open the tie early in the second stanza as Dillon would beat Lady Monarch keeper Melissa D'Aniello from close range off another cross, this time from Laura Roney. Suchoski would add her second tally just two minutes later to up the lead to 3-1. Suchoski would complete the hat trick at the 63:46 mark off another Roney cross to seal the conference win for Misericordia.

Misericordia held a 24-7 shot advantage, while garnering eight corner kicks to King's three attempts. D'Aniello finished with 10 saves in net for King's. Cougar goalie Morgan Meyers made three stops to record the win.

King's will return to action Saturday when they travel to Manhattanville College for a Freedom matchup scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
