FIELD HOCKEY HOSTS EASTERN UNIVERSITY IN TWO REMAINING UNBEATENS IN FREEDOM PLAY
WILKES-BARRE – Fresh off an important 2-1 conference win over league rival Misericordia on Thursday, the King's College field hockey team will try to remain perfect and vault to first place in the Freedom Conference as the Lady Monarchs welcome unbeaten Eastern University to McCarthy Stadium Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.

The match features the final two unbeaten teams in conference play and a rematch of last season's title game. Eastern posted a 2-0 victory over King's in the 2009 Freedom championship.
King's enters the contest with a 10-2 overall mark, 3-0 in Freedom play. The Lady Monarchs are led by the scoring duo of Calli Berryman and Jenera Quinones. Berryman has posted a team-high 27 points on 10 goals and seven assists, while Quinones follows with 26 points on 10 goals and six assists. Quinones was recently named MAC Freedom Player of the Week for her performance against Alvernia University last week where she recorded three goals in the Lady Monarchs 3-1 victory . Shawna Walp adds 16 points on five goals and six assists. Goalie Erin McGinley has been solid in het for King's boasting a 1.06 goals against average with 46 saves.
Ranked 10th nationally in Division III, Eastern stands 12-2 overall and 3-0 in conference matches following an 8-1 victory over DeSales University a week ago. Kim Campbell and Brittany Moyer lead the Eagles attack with 22 points each. Campbell posts nine goals and four assists, while Moyer has recorded eight goals and six assists. Yvonne Herbster contributes 17 points on five goals and seven assists. Eagles keeper Laura Ressler has a 0.80 goals against average with 65 saves in 14 matches in net.
Following the contest, King's will take to the road next week with road matchups at cross-town rival Wilkes University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and Manhattanville College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
