King's Men's Soccer Suffers 3-1 Setback at Manhattanville

KIING'S MEN'S SOCCER SUFFERS 3-1 SETBACK AT MANHATTANVILLE COLLEGE
 
PURCHASE, NY -- Host Manhattanville College saw three different players score goals on way to a 3-1 win over King's College in Freedom Conference play Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss King's sees its overall mark stand at 9-6 and drop to 2-2 in conference matches. Manhattanville improves to 7-4-1 overall, 2-1-1 in Freedom play.
 
Manhattanville grabbed an early 1-0 lead after a goal from Erick Olazabal at the 2:05 mark. The Valiants would extend their lead to 2-0 when Kennell Haye blasted a shot from outside the box that found the back of the net at 39:11. A goal from Emil Sjoberg right before the half put Manhattanville up 3-0 heading to the break.
 
King's would answer late in the second frame as Joey Bender would notched his seventh goal of the season when he headed home a Tim Meyer cross that found the back right corner of the net at 81:38, but it wasnt enough as the Valiants held on for the 3-1 conference victory.
 
Manhattanville held a 13-7 advantage in shots, while each team garnered four corner kick attempts. Monarch goalie Andrew O'Shura finished with five saves, while Jason Torres made two stops in net for Manhattanville.
 
King's will return to action Wednesday when the Monarchs welcome cross-town rival Wilkes University to McCarthy Stadium for a Freedom contest scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
