Women's Soccer Suffers 7-0 Defeat Against FDU-Florham in Freedom Conference Opener

KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER SUFFERS 7-0 DEFEAT AGAINST FDU-FLORHAM IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE OPENER

WILKES-BARRE -- Visiting FDU-Florham scored four goals in the first half, then added three more in the second frame to hand the King's College women's soccer team a 7-0 loss Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium in both teams' Freedom Conference opener.

With the loss King's slips to 1-10 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while FDU-Florham improves to 6-4-1 overall and 1-0 in Freedom matches.

The Devils scored four unanswered goals in the first 35 minutes of play to open up their lead as Brittany Kanickij notched two goals in the opening half. From there, Michelle Hickey and Jenna Campfield would tally goals before Kanickij would add her third goal of the contest to complete the hat trick and up the FDU-Florham lead to 7-0.

FDU-Florham held a commanding 26-5 advantage in shots, while garnering nine corner kicks. Lady Monarchs goalie Melissa D'Aniello finished with eight stops, while Devils goalkeeper Lauren Albrecht made four saves.

King's will return to the field Tuesday when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a non-conference match scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
