ST. DAVID'S, PA – Phil Mantua scored the game-winning goal midway through the first half as host Eastern University posted a 1-0 shutout win against King's College on Saturday afternoon at Olsen Field.

Following the loss King's sees its overall mark slip to 10-7, standing 3-3 in league play. Eastern improves to 10-4-1 overall and 5-1 in Freedom matches. With a Misericordia win against FDU-Florham, the Monarchs fall to fifth place in the conference standings with one match remaining. The top four teams make the post-season tournament.

Mantua scored the eventually game-winner at 29:54 of the first frame when he took a Braden Gross pass and blasted a shot from the top pf the box that found its way to the back of the Monarch net. King's has ample scoring opportunities but were unable to beat Eagles goalie John Crowder throughout.

The Monarchs held a 16-6 shot advantage, while garnering 10 corner kicks to Eastern's one attempt. King's goalie Andrew O'Shura made two stops in net, while Crowder posted seven saves and the important shutout win for the Eagles.
