KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS 4-0 AT EASTERN
ST. DAVID'S, PA – Kelsey Doutrich scored three goals to propel Eastern University to a 4-0 shutout win against visiting King's College Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference play.
With the loss King's slips to 1-15-1 overall, 0-5-1 in league matches. Eastern improves to 12-3-1 overall and remain perfect at 6-0 in Freedom play.
Doutrich scored the first of her three tallies at the 18:38 mark of the first half when she found the back of the net off a through ball from Carly Inch. Kristine Zaiset would extend the Eagles lead to 2-0 just before the half with a goal off a corner kick from Tess Beckwith. The Lady Monarchs were unable to mount much of an offensive attack as Eastern's midfield and defense kept King's without a shot for the match.
Doutrich would add her second and third goals of the contest ten minutes apart in the second frame, the first on an unassisted breakaway at 51:26 and the second at 62:16 on a one-timer off a cross from Amy Thomas that slipped inside the right post.
Katie Mangan played her second match in net for King's finishing with four saves on the afternoon. Eagles keepers Alysia Goodman and Megan Pololak split time in net to record the shutout.
King's will remain on the road when the Lady Monarchs travel to Marywood University Wednesday for a non-conference tilt scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
