KING'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO MATCHES ON FIRST DAY OF VASSAR TOURNAMENT
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The King's College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the Vassar College Tournament Friday. King's lost in straight sets to the host Vassar College, before suffering a 3-0 decision against SUNY Fredonia in the nightcap.
Following the matches, King's sees its overall mark slip to 6-16 on the year.
In their first match of the day, King's fell to Vassar by scores of 19-25, 19-25, and 23-25. Sophomore Heather Bowman led the attack with 11 kills and 14 digs. Freshman Lauren Rockhold contributed seven kills. Senior Emily Kline added five kills, while sophomore Jillian Foster chipped in with nine digs. Senior setter Kelly Greenway led the passing game with 22 assists.
In the nightcap, King's fell to Fredonia by scores of 19-25, 11-25, and 13-25. Kline finished with five kills, while Rockhold added four kills and six digs. Foster had a team-best nine digs in the defeat, while Greenway totaled four kills and 11 assists.
King's will be in action tomorrow on day two of the event with matches against Stevens Institute of Technology and Daemen College (N.Y.) Those matches will begin at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively.
