REILLY DOMINATES EN ROUTE TO MONARCH INVITATIONAL WRESTLING TOURNEY TITLE

WILKES-BARRE – Mike Reilly walked through the 184-pound weight class in dominating fashion to defend his championship at the Monarch Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday at King's College.

Reilly defended his title with four straight victories at 184. In his first match he posted an 18-3 technical fall over Jared Schlett of Gettysburg, before earning a 16-0 technical fall over Chad Obzud of Oneonta in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, Reilly garnered his third straight technical fall with a 15-0 win over Brian Kramer of Oneonta. In the finals he defeated Matt Transue of Wilkes by a pin in 0:53.
At 165, Frank Marinucci placed fourth for the Monarchs. He won his first match 11-1 over Paul Rajam of Scranton, then posted a 5-1 decision over J.P. Sala of Oneonta. In the semi-finals, Maricucci fell 11-8 to Mike Monson of Roger Williams. In the consolation bracket, he decisioned Mike Bowersox of Wilkes 4-3. In the consolation finals, Marinucci was forced to medical forfeit.
At 125, Ricky Dorsey finished sixth. Dorsey defeated Jon Lemoine of Roger Williams 6-4 in his first match before falling 7-6 to William Boyd of York. He then decisioned Abe Evans of Gettysburg 8-5, then Matt Spano of Gettysburg 10-8. Dorsey was then pinned by Jerrid Hartman of York in 1:22, before having to medical forfeit in the fifth-six place match.
King's finished sixth among the nine teams with 53 points. Wilkes won the team title with 155 points while Roger Williams and York were second and third with 112 and 110.5 points respectively.
